Physical Examination – Tuberculin Tests
Public Act 98-716 eliminated routine tuberculosis screening for new teachers and staff of all Elementary and High Schools in Illinois school districts. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) rules state that "workers in child day care and pre-school settings shall obtain a TB screening test within seven days after being employed. If Mantoux skin testing is used, two-step testing shall be done, with the first test administered within seven (7) days after employment. Routine, periodic screening of workers shall be determined by the child day care or pre-school facility's TB risk assessment" [77 Ill Admin. Code 696.140 (b) (3) of].
The Diocese of Belleville requires all workers be screened for TB as directed above.
