Discontinuance of Religious Education (PSR) Program for Public School Children in a Parish
Because of the importance of a parish catechetical program for families and especially the children enrolled, a pastor or parish council may not make plans to discontinue the Parish School of Religion (PSR) without prior notification to the Office of Education and approval of the Bishop. This notification must be provided even if the catechetical/religious education for elementary and high school public school children is being provided in a neighboring parish or within the parish partnership.
