ADMINISTRATION
Principals of Schools - Qualification Requirements
I. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Reflects a strong basic character through:
- Integrity and sincerity in relations with others
- His or her moral conduct . . . . references required
- Willingness to defend values compatible with principles of Catholic Education
- Reflects good mental and physical health evidences through:
- Appreciation of the worth and the integrity of every individual
- Ability to make decisions without undue procrastination or rationalization
- Medical records and references
- Reflects understanding of the role that social amenities play in good personal relationships as evidenced through:
- Friendliness and approachability
- Discretion in grooming and dress
- Trustworthy and merits the confidence of co-workers
II. CHRISTIAN HERITAGE LEADERSHIP
- Understands and is in accord with the basic Philosophy of Catholic Education
- Must be a practicing Catholic
- Must be concerned with spreading the Gospel message
- Is instrumental in establishing Christian Community among faculty and parish
- Has a wide breadth of interest in areas associated with education: social, economic, aesthetic, etc.
III. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
- Basic training:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 16 semester hours in education
- Completion of master’s degree in Administration
- State Teacher Certification as required by State Laws
- Compliant with the Diocese of Belleville Child Protection Policies
- Any exceptions must be granted by the Office of Education.
- Experience contributing to effectiveness of supervision and administration:
- A minimum of four years of teaching in an elementary classroom for an elementary principal and four years of teaching in a high school classroom for a high school principal is desired. Any exceptions must be granted by the Office of Education.

- Refresher Courses
- Professional Awareness
- Knowledge of legislation relating to education and the teaching profession
- Knowledge of purposes of professional groups
- Participation in the NCEA
