The Office of Worship is committed to apply the very best of Catholic theology to the many kinds of formational programs and services we provide. We prepare our liturgical ministers, RCIA catechists, deacons and lay leaders of prayer to have a collaborative role with us, with each other and in their parishes. We work to enrich the faith of the people who comprise the Catholic Church of southern Illinois.
The Office of Worship is a service and resource center for the Liturgy and Liturgical Catechesis including the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Adult faith formation and good liturgy foster and nurture faith. Realizing this, the services of the Office of Worship, in collaboration with the Diocesan Liturgical Commission and its committees, seeks to promote the liturgical and spiritual life of the people of God in the Diocese of Belleville.
"The Catholic Church in southern Illinois is a community of believers, rich in tradition and diversity. Through baptism we are called to be a community of faith whose members support and challenge one another to make Christ visible in our world. We are called to celebrate our faith in worship, to nurture our faith through ongoing formation of mind and heart, and to express it in service to others."
-- Mission Statement of the Diocese of Belleville
The Office of Worship attempts to forward the mission of the diocese by first remembering that it is a part of this "community of believers" and exists to nurture and support the pastors and lay faithful of the Church of southern Illinois. The Office provides "ongoing formation of mind and heart" through a variety of workshops, seminars and resources offered and in the celebrations in which it is involved. With a desire to be faithful to the traditions of the Church, parishes turn to the Office of Worship as a source of education/formation, support and catechesis in the areas of Liturgy, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), Music and Art and Architecture.
