Teacher Placement on Salary Schedule
In order to qualify for B.S. or B.A. level a teacher must have obtained a degree from an accredited college including at least 16 hours of professional education credits or have obtained a B.S. or B.A. and completed additional professional education credits to have acquired an initial or standard state teaching certificate.
In order to qualify for B.S. or B.A.+15 a teacher must have earned 15 semester hours of credit in courses taken since obtaining his/her standard state teaching certificate.
In order to qualify for M.A. a teacher must have a Master's degree from an accredited college. If the teacher did not complete 16 hours of professional education before obtaining the Master’s degree, this degree is to include those 16 hours.
In order to qualify for M.A.+15 a teacher must have earned 15 semester hours of credit in courses taken since obtaining his/her Master's degree and standard state teaching certificate.
It is the intention of the Diocesan Board of Education that approval for placement on the +15 level be limited to such courses as will clearly contribute to the individual’s teaching effectiveness. In those cases where the course is not in one's content teaching field (where such term is applicable) or is not well recognized as an advance course in methodology, the individual's academic background and the relation of the course to his/her teaching assignment are to be considered in granting or withholding approval.
Credits earned to satisfy the requirements for the standard state teaching certificate will not be used to qualify for B.S. or B.A. +15 levels. Credits earned for additional endorsements will be used to qualify for B.S. or B.A.+15 levels.
